GBUK and ABHI building relationships in Saudi
GBUK is expanding its international footprint, bringing high-quality medical devices and innovative technologies to new regions around the world.
As part of this strategic growth, we’ve enrolled in the 12 month ABHI Middle East Accelerator Programme, supporting our ongoing work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and furthering our ambitions in the wider GCC region.
Why Saudi?
We have already seen promising progress in the region, with a good level of sales in UAE, Qatar and Saudi already, and believe there is considerable potential for further development. The decision to join the ABHI Accelerator Programme builds on our current momentum and provides a structured platform to strengthen our presence and nurture relationships in the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia is undergoing a significant transformation in its healthcare sector, aligned with the national Vision 2030 strategy. With an emphasis on innovation, quality and long-term sustainability, Saudi is investing heavily in infrastructure, digital health and clinical excellence. There is also a high regard held for British healthcare. This correlates with our own values and expertise, making it an ideal time to support the country’s ambitions with our proven technologies.
Our objectives
Through our participation in the Accelerator Programme, we aim to achieve several key objectives:
- Develop a more detailed understanding of the healthcare landscape across Saudi Arabia and the broader MENA region, including current transitions and future direction.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), NUPCO and leading private healthcare groups.
- Identify potential distribution partners who can support the growth of our expanding product portfolio in the region.
- Visit leading hospitals and clinical centres to explore how GBUK’s technologies can positively influence care delivery, and how best we can support our local partners.
Our visits to Saudi
The ABHI programme has already delivered a range of valuable activities, including expert sessions, networking opportunities and in-market missions.
One of two scheduled mission weeks took place earlier in the spring. We had the privilege of meeting with a number of incredible people and influential organisations, including Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Hospitals, King Faisal Hospital, National Guard Hospital, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Investment and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority.
These meetings offered important insights into current healthcare priorities within Saudi Arabia. They also confirmed a clear demand for the kind of clinically effective, reliable technologies GBUK is known for.
We are now excitedly awaiting our second trip to Saudi, which will take place from 26 to 31 October 2025. It will coincide with World Health Expo Saudi Arabia, where GBUK are proud to be exhibiting, showcasing our latest innovations and engaging directly with key partners and decision-makers. Following the exhibition, we will continue with the Accelerator Programme itinerary in Jeddah, where further meetings and site visits are planned.
This upcoming mission represents another important step in building a long-term presence in the region and ensuring we are aligned with the needs of local healthcare providers.
