Committed to minimising environmental impact
GBUK is dedicated to playing our part in achieving net zero. By minimising our emissions, investing in schemes to offset impact and educating our team and partners, we aim to deliver high quality, low carbon products that contribute to the healthcare sector’s broader net zero goal.

Wherever possible, we will prevent pollution, reduce waste and minimise consumption.

We promote carbon reduction and environmental protection amongst all stakeholders.

Maintain
We continue to deliver high-quality products and services throughout our sustainability efforts.
Deliver a net zero service
GBUK aims to deliver a carbon neutral service by recognising our remaining carbon footprint and funding appropriate schemes to offset this impact:
- We measured our baseline figure at 82.85tCO2e per FTE 1.97tCO2e per sqm.
- All sites will purchase verified ‘Green’ electricity and undertake product life cycle assessments for material products.
- We are engaging with suppliers to both improve data quality and understand tier 1 suppliers’ carbon footprints, thus supporting value chain decarbonisation.
- We will increase the reuse and recycling of waste.
- All employees are encouraged to avoid high-carbon travel modes.
- To tackle emissions in upstream transport, we will request detailed freight and logistic data, request the use of EVs where possible, avoid next-day delivery and review the use of flights to transport goods.
- We are developing a net zero strategy and action plan including an implementation timeline to map the initiatives and actions required to meet our target.
Sustainability at GBUK
GBUK will promote activities that reduce emissions whilst still delivering strategic growth. These include:
- Renewable energy sources
- Recycling, and the use of recycled products
- Energy efficient equipment, devices and heating and cooling systems
- Motion-activated and LED lighting
- Digital communication to avoid the need to travel
- Electric vehicles, low carbon options, and vehicle sharing when travel is required
- Partnering with those who share our environmental principles
- Efficient transit routes and transport
- Minimal dead space on shipments
- Recycled and biodegradable packaging, and avoiding unnecessary plastic packaging
- Avoiding unnecessary SKUs in a product range
GBUK will raise awareness, both internally and externally, about our environmental footprint and strategic response to our net zero goal.
- We are ensuring compliance with all current energy legislation, and are seeking to meet or better legislative targets.
- There will be carbon footprint recognition in all relevant GBUK Group policies.
- We are providing staff awareness training and enlisting staff support in improving our performance.
- We’re encouraging the adoption of similar environmental principles to our strategic partners.
- We are continually calculating our CO2 impact and monitoring our performance.
