Indications

Formulation
Hydrocyn Aqua® is pH-neutral, hypoallergenic and free from preservatives, parabens, antibiotics and steroids. The water-based solution is ready to use with no need for dilution or mixing, and it is compatible with other wound management treatments. It is also high tolerance, working gently on the skin to soothe and repair.
Mechanism of action
Hydrocyn Aqua® delivers potent and rapid antimicrobial activity. The formula works through osmotic shock, where a sudden change in osmotic pressure and water balance causes cells to rupture. The active ingredient in the range is hypochlorous acid (HOCI), a naturally-occurring substance in the body’s immune system which helps to defend against infection. HOCI works by penetrating microbial cell walls and increasing pressure to rupture the cell, thus destroying any bacteria and pathogens that are present on the wound. This helps to promote a clean and moist environment that is conducive to healing, protects the wound against inflammation and infection, and reduces biofilm and wound odour.
The range
The Hydrocyn Aqua® range includes solutions, gels and sprays designed to work together; the solution cleanses the wound to remove bacteria and biofilm, while the hydrogel and spray moisturises the wound and offers continued antibacterial activity.
